EKU Festbier

EKU Festbier is a richly malty deep golden example of the style. There’s some spicy notes iti the nose and head retention is fair. The richly malty palate is typically spicy with a touch more hops than the standard Kulmbacher Festbier. The lingering finish is a bit drier than the standard Kulmbacher Festbier but disappointed it’s not hoppier from the description.

Kulmbacher Festbier

Kulmbacher Festbier is a richly malty amber example of the style. There’s some toasted malt and spicy notes in the nose and head retention is fair. The richly malty palate is typically spicy with a nice toasted malt element. The lingering finish is just about dry enough to avoid being cloying but I’d like a bit more hops in the mix.

Kanone Weizen

Kanone Weizen is one gorgeous looking Weizen with a textbook honeycomb hue and formidable yeasty ivory head. Fruit and yeast in the nose and foretells well the balanced palate. The lingering finish is dry enough to want another. This is a one refreshing Weizen.

Rhönbrauerei Dittmar Rhöner Weisse

Rhönbrauerei Dittmar lies in the Rhön valley in a small slice of Franconian Thuringia. The brew fantastically dry traditional beers and their Rhöner Weisse is no exception.

Wiesener Räuberweisse

Wiesener Räuberweisse from Bürgerliches Brauhaus is a great looking Weizen with a rocky head and fruity nose. It’s got a rounded fruity palate with yeast in peeking in from the nose. It’s also got an earthy quality untypical for the style which gives it a moreish quality. It’s a touch stickier than their other beers but not overly so and certainly not for the style. It’s full-flavored and fruity but remains refreshing, something a Weizen should always strive to be.

Waldschloss Bräu Fuhrmanns Weisse

Waldschloss Fuhrmanns Weisse has the classic banana clove interplay in both the nose and palate but it's thin of flavor with a cloying finish.
