When it comes to beer aficionados, Lower Franconia doesn't get any respect. Before I get accused of playing the Rodney Dangerfield card, I fully understand its relative remoteness and lack of sheer numbers has a lot to do with that. Going to new breweries is exciting so don't lose the sense of adventure. Lower Franconia is a great place to do it just that.
Waldschloss Pils is a textbook German Pils with a grainy nose featuring floral hops and which carries over to the plate. The clean finish is semi-dry with a light but firm bitterness.
Waldschloss Kellerbier is a gorgeously refreshing looking Kellerbier with a light grainy nose and balanced palate of grain and hops. The lingering finish is semi-dry with just a hint of bitterness. Much better with food, the peppery element of the hops is more pronounced.
Waldschloss Fuhrmanns Weisse has the classic banana clove interplay in both the nose and palate but it's thin of flavor with a cloying finish.
Waldschloss Export is a balanced Export with creamy white head and grainy nose. There's grain in both the nose and palate. The lingering finish is semi-dry.
