I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
I looked it up because I was unfamiliar. My reference said Export is a pale lager brewed around Dortmund. Anything else we should know?
That is correct as you’ll see in my style guide, which adds the Franconian variants. I’ve not been to Dortmund but supposedly the real McCoy has become industrialized. The one from Wiesen is how I imagine one should taste.
