Sonnen Weisse
Brewery: Zur Sonne
Town: Bischberg
Style: Weizen 5.2%
Color: light unfiltered golden
Head: white, dissipating
Nose: fruity
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, fruity, citrus
Finish: lingering, semi-dry
Served: from a bottle bought at Landbier Paradies
Impression: Despite an awful pour and quickly dissipating head, this turned out to be a refreshingly balanced fruity Weizen with a cleaner finish than many. It’s a bit thin on flavor but what’s there is rounded and agreeable. I’ll look to pick up a bottle, hopefully in better condition or try it at their pub next time I’m in.
Next beer or back to the beer list.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
