Rhönbrauerei Dittmar Rhöner Weisse

Brewery: Rhönbrauerei Dittmar
Town:
Kaltennordheim in Franconian Thuringia
Style: Weizen 5.2%

Color:
honeycomb
Head:
white, bready, rocky, chiffon-like, yeasty
Nose:
fruity, yeasty
Body: medium
Palate:
balanced, fruity, citrusy, yeasty
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, very slightly bitter

Served: from a bottle bought at the brewery

Impression: Super looking Weizen with an ample chiffon-like head and light fruity/yeasty nose. The balanced palate is similarly fruity. The lingering finish is quite dry for the style, avoiding the cloying quality not untypical of the style while adding only a hint of bitterness. If a notch fuller flavored, this could be a favorite in the Franconian Weizen category for me.
