Ebern Genussfestival 2024: A Beer Enjoyment Odyssey
The Genussfestival 2024 was held in medieval marvel Ebern in the Hassberg County of Lower Franconia. Four regional breweries (Göller/Zeil, Bayer/Theinheim, Raab/Hofheim and Hartled/Maroldsweisach) along with communal breweries from Dörflis and Ebern were on hand. A great time was had by all.
Brauhaus Brünn Hausbier
Brauhaus Brünn Hausbier was an unusually cloudy yeasty beer with a dry lingering finish. On tap at at the Genussfestival 2024 in Ebern.
Bräuhaus Dörflis Märzen
Bräuhaus Dörflis Märzen is a rich malty brew with fair hopping, making for a lovely semi-dry finish. It is brewed by the small communal brewery in the village of Dörflis in Lower Franconia but I sampled it at the Genussfestival 2024 in Ebern.
Goldene Gans Hefeweizen
Goldene Gans Hefeweizen is a textbook example of the style and particularly refreshing in this lovely Biergarten on the Main river in Würzburg.
Goldene Gans Helles
Goldene Gans Helles is a malty brew with a peppery finish. Their Biergarten on the Main river in Würzburg is worth a stop in itself and in this setting, any beer is refreshing.
Würzburger Hofbräu Hell
Würburger Hofbräu Hell is a balanced if somewhat bland malty brew which is well-suited for those averse to hops. Their signature Pils is still heading towards a Helles and the better bet if looking for more flavor.
Oechsner Hefeweizen hell
Oechsner Hefweizen Hell is a fruity Weizen with a citrusy palate and clean, semi-bitter finish.
Oechsner Edel Hell
Oechsner Edel Hell is a dry fruity Helles with a clean, semi-bitter finish.
Kesselring Pils on tap
Kesselring Premium Pils is a textbook German Pils with a light grainy/floral hops nose and palate. The lingering finish is semi-dry and semi-bitter.
