EKU Festbier

EKU Festbier is a richly malty deep golden example of the style. There’s some spicy notes iti the nose and head retention is fair. The richly malty palate is typically spicy with a touch more hops than the standard Kulmbacher Festbier. The lingering finish is a bit drier than the standard Kulmbacher Festbier but disappointed it’s not hoppier from the description.

Kulmbacher Festbier

Kulmbacher Festbier is a richly malty amber example of the style. There’s some toasted malt and spicy notes in the nose and head retention is fair. The richly malty palate is typically spicy with a nice toasted malt element. The lingering finish is just about dry enough to avoid being cloying but I’d like a bit more hops in the mix.

Kulmbacher Kommunbräu Hexenbier

Kulmbacher Kommunbräu Hexenbier is their April seasonal. This lightly smoky unfiltered chestnut brew is richly malty in both the nose and palate. The balanced palate is roasty with a hint of smoke with underlying hops peeking through as it warms. The lingering finish is semi-dry and semi-bitter.

Mönchshof Original Pils

Mönchshof Original Pils is one of their better offerings if not in the classic German Pils mold. It's balanced and maltier but there's still some hops in the mix.

Mönchshof Kellerbier

Mönchshof Kellerbier is a balanced grainy example with a lingering semi-dry finish. Not bad but nothing special.
