Martinsbräu Pils at Bräustüble & Biergarten
Brewery: Martinsbräu
Town: Marktheidenfeld
Style: Pils 4.9%
Color: golden
Head: white, rocky, creamy
Nose: nice mix of grain and hops
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, grainy, hoppy
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at the Martinsbräu Bräustüble
Impression: This is another nice pour into a .4l glass with a fair head and mixed nose of grain and hops. Balanced and while very much a German Pils, it’s got some malt backbone holding down the fort. The finish lingers more than you’d expect but it’s got enough dryness to keep you wanting more. The bitterness level is just about right too. Picked up a bottle but drank it after a trip to at my wife’s family in Dresden. After drinking Radeberger for a few days it was more in the “a good Helles” category. I had it again on tap recently but this time at their Biergarten and it seemed more floral and I preferred it to both their Kellerbier and Festbier, both of which were also on tap.
