Tucher Original Nürnberger Rotbier
Brewery: Tucher
Town: Fürth/Nürnberg
Style: Rotbier 5.5%
Color: unfiltered amber to red
Head: off-white, rocky
Nose: light malt, some spice and hops
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, malty, very slight butter
Finish: lingering, dry
Served: on tap at the Wirtshaus Tucherbräu am Opernhaus
Impression: Nicely poured with a fair head and appealing if faint nose. It’s balanced and dry enough with a hint of spice in the malt/hops mix. The lingering finish is uncertain and just that bit cloying. I’ll be interested to see if this is the same as the Grüner Rotbier as this is a couple of notches below Schanzenbräu and not as good as Bruderherz either.
Back to the beer list.
I’ve been to the Nürnberg opera house several times, but not to the Wirtshaus Tucherbräu, I’m afraid.
Of course, I didn’t even know there was an opera house until going over for this beer research. I have an idea, you can do the opera houses and I can do the breweries? Oh, we’re already doing that. Thanks for stopping by and perhaps you can grab a meal here next time you’re in Nürnberg for the opera!
