Elch-Bräu Dunkel
Brewery: Elch-Bräu
Town: Thuisbrunn
Style: Dunkles
Color: unfiltered, brown
Head: rocky, light tan
Nose: slight chocolate
Body: medium, low carbonation
Palate: malty, some chocolate notes
Finish: clean
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: I’ve had this a few times over the years and it seems to be getting better with each visit. This being the newest brewery on the on route, that’s a good thing to see. This last time, it seemed to have a more pronounced chocolate note but remained a very clean, drinkable Dunkles with a clean finish.
Next beer or back to the beer list.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
