Hofmühl Hell
Brewery: Hofmühl
Town: Eichstätt
Style: Helles
Color: deep golden
Head: white, rocky
Nose: malty, grainy
Body: medium
Palate: malty, grainy
Finish: clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought in Eichstätt
Impression: Found this in a shop in town and glad I picked it up. I’d liked it on tap at the Trompete but there was an ever so slight butterscotch flavor and this bottle has none of that. It’s quite similar to the Kellergold but it’s filtered. Nice rocky head and mix of malt and grain in the nose. Hops are more prominent and the finish has slightly more bitterness to it. Nice session beer at 4.9%.
