Impression: Schlossbrauerei Reckendorf Helle Freude is a bright golden Munich style Helles. The impressive head doesn’t last as long as you’d like. It does, however, have an alluring nose and of grain and mown grass. It’s malt forward with a nice grainy quality. Underlying hops dry it out enough in the lingering semi-dry, semi-bitter finish. It’s well-made and true to a style but I’m afraid it’s a style that will soon push more Franconian styles off the shelves and tap handles.
