Gampertbräu Förster Dunkel
Brewery: Gampertbräu
Town: Weißenbrunn-Kronach
Style: Dunkel 5.5%
Color: chestnut
Head: off-white, creamy
Nose: malty, roast
Body: medium to full
Palate: balanced, malty, roasty, spicy
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at Biersalon Coburg.
Impression: Gampertbräu Förster Dunkel is a balanced richly malty brew with some roasty undertones. The lingering finish is semi-dry and semi-bitter. This is one of the better Gampertbräu beers. I was very happy to see it on tap as I’ve not had a chance to sample many of their fair line-up aside from bottles.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
