Dorn-Bräu Vollbier Hell
Brewery: Dorn-Bräu
Town: Bruckberg
Style: Vollbier
Color: golden
Head: white, ample, creamy
Nose: light hop, faint grain
Body: medium, fizzy, somehow soft
Palate: balanced, grainy, malty, underlying hops
Finish: fairly clean, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: It took some time for it to be poured and it still came out very fizzy. It somehow managed to have a soft mouthfeel despite it being over carbonated. It initially seemed a bit sticky but the underlying hops came through towards the finish. Grain is restrained and overall, the beer was drier with food. I’d like to have this again and hopefully in a less carbonated state. I think at its core, it’s a good beer.
