Impression: This was the beer that put the brewery on the map for me. I’d had a quick pint (along with two other unknown to me local dark beers at the Nürnberg Festival in 2021). Though not mind-blowing, I’d tried a couple of times to get to the newly reopened brewery tap, to no avail. Once there, I had planned on saving it for last but the golden Lagerbier was hoppier than expected and the Kellerbier on the buttery side so having it before the Pils seemed my best choice. It’s rounded and richly malty but the Hersbrucker hops shine through better than remembered. The lingering finish is drier too. I could session on it but looks like most choose the equally quaffable Lagerbier.
