Staffelberg-Bräu Vollbier from Holzfass

Brewery: Staffelberg-Bräu
Town: Loffeld
Style: Vollbier
Color: in Krug so no visuals, looks amber
Head: off-white, creamy
Nose: malty, some nice grain
Body: medium, soft
Palate: balanced, malty, nice grain aspect, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter

Served: from gravity dispense Holzfass at Landbier Paradies Wodanstraße

Impression: After a day of drinking less than stellar and not particularly Franconian beer in Nürnberg I finally got a soft traditional Franconian beer, from Staffelberg-Bräu no less. It’s malty with a peppery element I find simultaneously satisfying and oddly incongruous. There’s a nice grain element and overall, probably the best beer experience of the day. Nice Brotzeit and atmosphere at the pub as well.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
