Reh Pils
Brewery: Brauerei Reh
Town: Lohndorf
Style: Pils 4.9%
Color: golden
Head: white, creamy
Nose: Spalter hops
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, hoppy fruity, good malt backbone
Finish: lingering, dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at Palais Schaumburg in Nürnberg
Impression: I finally found the Reh beers on tap at this quirky little pub/Biergarten in Nürnberg. This was my second one, a nicely poured Pils with a white creamy head and Spalter hops in the nose. The balanced palate is abundantly hopped but not overly so. There’s a gentle fruity character that fits well and the lingering finish is moreishly dry with a perfect level of bitterness.
Next beer or back to the beer list.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
