Nose: slight hop
Palate: firm malt, some fruitiness, underlying hoppiness

Impression: I’d have some bottles from Weiherer before visiting the brewery and though I found them all well-made, I was never blown away by them. I finally went to the brewpub and just about everything seemed to blow me away. With so many choices, I didn’t get to any of their Weizens so was happy to find their Weizenbock in a nearby store. It was gorgeous on pouring with a robust rocky head and a surprising slight hoppy edge to its nose. The flavor had an underlying hoppiness that came through even more with food. It’s not a typical Weizenbock but certainly well-made and a nice addition to the ranks of Weizens from brewers unafraid to use hops in a beer not generally noted for them. It’s quite quaffable at 6.8%. I recently had it on tap at the brewery and it was quite different but still excellent.
