Weiglathaler Vollbier Dunkel

amber beer in mug with big head

Übelhack Vollbier Dunkel

Brewery: Übelhack (contract brewed possibly by Kaiser in Neuhaus)
Town: Weiglathal

Style: Vollbier
Color: unfiltered amber
Head: off white, rocky
Nose: malt, hops
Body: medium, low carbonation
Palate: dry, fruity, hoppy
Finish: long, dry, slightly bitter

Served: on tap at the former brewery

Impression:  Even though this is no longer a brewery, this is a favorite stop on the Bierquellenwanderweg. They have the beer contract brewed and lager it on the premises for 6-8 weeks so they still take it seriously. It sure is poured that way and comes out looking pretty damned amazing. It’s a dry fruity quaffer with fair hopping that is subdued by the ample malt and yet remains dry throughout.
