Impression: Klosterbräu Landbier is a richly malty unfiltered amber beer heading in the Märzen direction. Underlying hops dry it out nicely in the lingering semi-bitter finish. I’ll have to admit to being quite surprised by this beer due to the name. I’d imagined one of the jump on the bandwagon Munich style Helles Franconian breweries are alarmingly pumping out. So, when it came out unfiltered and amber, with a dense creamy head, I was take a bit aback. It’s very rich for 5% but remains quite drinkable. I find it odd that they brewed a third amber beer with no golden ones but I’d say this is probably my favorite of the three.
