Zirndorfer Kellerbier
Brewery: Zirndorfer (owned by Tucher)
Town: Zirndorf
Style: Kellerbier 4.9%
Color: unfiltered amber
Head: off-white, creamy, rocky
Nose: soap sudsy mix of grain, malt and hops, hint of yeast
Body: medium, soft
Palate: balanced, toasted malt, light grain, fruity, underlying hops, residual yeast
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at the Zirndorfer Bräuschank in Zirndorf
Impression: Finally a nicely served beer with a rocky head, soft palate and harmony in the palate. I don’t think it was the server’s attention to detail. It’s just a better beer and the only one I’d ever have if I return. It was unusually served in a glass without my asking but it reveals an unfiltered amber brew ready for the session. It’s ale-like in its fruitiness and low carbonation. The lingering finish, while no more bitter than its stablemates, is drier and by far more enticing.
