ECK Wilderer Dunkel
Brewery: Brauerei Gasthof ECK
Town: ECK
Style: Dunkles Kellerbier
Color: unfiltered chestnut
Head: off-white, dense
Nose: chocolate malt
Body: full
Palate: dry, malty, some chocolate, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, dry, bittersweet
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: This could have easily been a disappointing beer as my expectations were quite high but it very much met them right from the visual start. It was well-poured with a gorgeous off-white head and some chocolate in both the nose and palate. It remained dry throughout with fair hopping. The finish was moreish and made it very dangerous at 5.5%.
