Impression: Knoblach is is one of my favorite Franconian breweries. Their beers are generally very well-hopped, bitter and supremely dry across the board.  Though they, uncharacteristically for Franconia, have quite a few beers on tap, I’ve not managed to get this one there. So, I was happy to find it in bottled form. It poured beautifully with the kind of head that shows old world brewing techniques are still being used. The nose wasn’t very smoky and neither was the overall flavor but it was unmistakably there. It was a very well-balanced brew and quite easy to drink for 5.4%. It’s a nice introductory smoke beer for those who find the more noted ones too smoky for their tastes.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
