Brewery: Göller
Town: Zeil am Main
Style: Weizenbock
Color: honeycomb
Head: effervescent, thinning
Nose: honey, banana
Body: light, bubbly
Palate: honey with typical banana/clove element
Finish: clean, alcoholic
Served: from a bottle bought locally
Impression: Göller beers have grown on me since visiting the brewery in person. This is not an easy style to do well and though it won’t join the ranks of my very favorites, it is none-the-less a well made example of the style. It looked nice on pouring though the head was short-lived and it was a fresh bottle. It had a nice aroma typical of the style with some honey mixed in for good measure. At 7%, it was not cloying and had a fairly clean if somewhat strong alcohol presence in the finish.
