Grasser Märzen in bottle
Brewery: Grasser
Town: Huppendorf
Style: Märzen
Color: unfiltered, dark amber
Head: off white, rocky, dense bubbles
Nose: malt
Body: full, medium carbonation
Palate: rich, malty, some spiciness
Finish: long, dry, slightly bitter
Served: bottle bought at the brewery
Impression: I’ve been lucky to have nearly all the Grasser beers at the brewery on tap but haven’t managed to get there for their quite limited Märzen. I generally pick up some beer to bring home when there and was happy when the salesman said they still had some leftover. I didn’t know what to expect but it sure poured beautifully and the rich aroma was equally met by a very rich malty palate with the requisite spiciness that all too often goes missing in this style lately. It also has a very long dry finish with just enough bitterness to make it moreish. I finally got to have it on tap!
