Impression: I had high hopes for this Doppelbock as I’d had a great Heller Doppelbock in a bottle from them a a few months earlier. It was one of the reasons I was prompted to return to Meinel-Bräu Bas. It’s oddly served in a Krug, losing all head retention but at least it’s not fizzy! It’s a richly malty affair and not as complex as their bottled Heller Doppelbock but it’s still not cloying and has a fair finish. Easier said than done at 7.5%.
