Stern-Bräu Festbier
Brewery: Scheubel’s Stern-Bräu
Town: Schlüsselfeld
Style: smoke Festbier
Color: light amber
Head: off white, creamy, dissipating
Nose: slight malt
Body: full-bodied, medium carbonation
Palate: malty, fruity, dry, unmistakable smokiness
Finish: long dry bitter finish
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: Schlüsselfeld isn’t the easiest place to get to, well not if you want to leave the same day anyway. So, took advantage of a rental car and super understanding wife and finally made it to Stern-Bräu. Both beers were super dry and very good but the Festbier was a real surprise with a smokiness I wasn’t expecting, not all that unlike Bamberg’s Spezial, if even drier. It was quite easy to drink and though their Vollbier was excellent, we stuck with the Fest once we tried it. Great stuff.
