Kathi-Bräu Dunkles Bockbier

dark beer in mug
Kathi-Bräu Bock

Brewery:
Kathi-Bräu
Town:
Heckenhof
Style: Dunkler Bock
Color:
unfiltered deep mahagony
Head: off white, dense

Nose:
dried fruit
Body:
full-bodied
Palate: rich
malt, dried fruit, hint of licorice, underlying hops
Finish: long, semi-dry, bittersweet

Served: on tap at the brewery

Impression:  Kathi-Bräu’s Bock is the big brother of their only other brew, a malty Dunkles. The higher octane offering features some dried fruit in the nose and palate but the underlying hops cut the sweetness to dry it out just enough in the moreish finish.  The brewery’s outside seating area has to be one of the most scenic in all of Franconia so sipping on it there is one of those bucket list experiences the beer hiker pines for. Glad I got to do it.

Next beer or back to the beer list.
