History of Brauerei Pröls
Braurei Pröls was founded in 2024 by master brewer Christopher Pröls. It’s located in the former Schneider-Bräu and uses its historic storage cellars which date back to 1794. The old brewery stopped brewing in 2015 but resumed on a small scale in 2018, only for its adjacent pub, Zur Kanne. Pröls stepped in and brewed alongside Schneider for a brief stint but the latter now only runs the pub. Thankfully, they sell the Pröls line-up.

Christopher Pröls bought newer equipment from the now defunct Binkert Brauhaus in Breitengüßbach. Pröls brews a full range of traditional style beers with local ingredients, some with a slight Craft Beer influence. Christopher has an obvious affinity for the old Schneider-Bräu and let on that he hopes in the future to brew some of the old brand for Zur Kanne. He also hopes to open a tasting room in May 2026 with a few of their beers on tap. Hours currently listed are for off-license sales.

Christopher is an amicable guy with good ideas who is off to a great start in Weissenburg. So, we hope Brauerei Pröls continues to grow. If the Schneider-Bräu brand can be revived, that’s fantastic. For now, it’s enough that there is now an operating brewery once again in this gorgeous town, and a great one at that.

Pröls beers can be bought onsite as well as in select super markets. They are also on tap at Christopher’s brother’s Schwarzer Bär and Zur Kanne. Both are in the Old Town of Weissenburg.
Weißenburger Kirchweih 2026
Pröls was the sole featured beer at the Weißenburger Kirchweih in August 2026. The annual summer event features a beer tent and small area of food stands and rides. The Pröls Kirchweihbier was a lovely rich Märzen.
