Brauerei Pröls Weizenbock
Brewery: Pröls
Town: Weissenburg in Bayern
Style: Weizenbock 7%
Color: orange honeycomb
Head: off-white, bready
Nose: tropical fruit, yeasty
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, malty, tropical fruit
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought at the brewery.
Impression: Brauerei Pröls Weizenbock is orange hued example of the style with an off-white bready head and a yeasty nose featuring tropical fruit. It’s quite balanced and the ample 7% abv is well hidden in the tropical fruit notes. The lingering finish is fairly dry and slightly bitter. This is one fine Weizenbock well worth seeking out.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
