Schoilmichl is one of the oldest and most cozy Zoiglstuben. Manfred Punzmann is the quintessential farmer/Zoigl producer which makes the Zoiglstuben scene so special with everything you get all very much homemade.

This was unfortunately a quick stop as I did a day trip from Munich just to get my last Echte Zoiglstuben in before the close of 2019. I can assure you, it’s one I will make it back to soon. The outdoor Biergarten area must be bustling and great on a sunny day but it was obviously not in use on this cold and somewhat dreary December day. Walking into the Schoilmichl is like coming into Manfred Punzmann’s kitchen. The server was friendly and efficient, getting me my Zoigl in no time, important when time is a factor. I opted for a plate of cold sliced Krackauer, a smoky sausange Schoilmichl is renowned for.

The place was nicely decorated for Christmas, another first for me to see and by going on a December Monday afternoon, it was easy to get a spot and take some photos. I’m pretty sure it will be an entirely different scene when I return in the warmer months!
