Brewery: Brauerei Will
Color: unfiltered, golden
Head: white, thinning
Body: full-bodied, overly-carbonated
Palate: rich malt, bitterness comes through as it warms
Finish: fairly dry, some bitterness
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: I’d returned to the brewery after many years primarily to have their recently award winning Rauchbier but couldn’t resist having the bock as it was on tap. It looked promising: unfiltered and golden but it was not well-poured and over-carbonated. The head thinned quickly and it was a bit on the cold side. It was rich and malty and at 7.8%, fairly dry. The bitterness came through more as it warmed up and lost some of its fizz. Not bad, but not the Rauchbier, either.
