Impression: Kreisla 36/1 Bassd Zamm gravity dispense is a collaboration beer by the two noted Franconian stalwarts. Two of the sons from both Brauerei Zehendner and Brauerei Keesmann each just finished their brewing training, so they celebrated with this joint effort. I first enjoyed this lovely beer at its launch party in Bamberg in mid-September. I happened to be in Mönchsambach in early October and lucked out when they tapped a gravity barrel of the much sought after beer. This unfiltered golden brew is supremely dry but has fair malt backbone. It’s definitely hop forward but fairly balanced. The lingering finish is quite dry and bitter. Dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin, noted for producing a firm wine-like dryness, it sure worked here. The gravity version was even softer than it was from the regular keg, so I found it easier to drink.
