Impression: Gänstaller Maibock is a gorgeous unfiltered golden example of the style. With a creamy lasting head and fruity/hoppy nose, it’s a balanced richly malty Bock. The fruity palate is tinged with hops which aren’t overpowering but dry out the lingering finish in semi-bitter fashion. The Gänstaller beers are a mixed lot since Andy Gänstaller moved on but this Maibock is one of the better ones in 2026. The event was quite nice, as well. I’d go again next year if it’s in the same location.
