Hexenbräu Pils
Brewery: Hexenbräu
Town: Michelau im Steigerwald-Neuhausen
Style: Kellerpils
Color: unfiltered golden
Head: white, creamy
Nose: citrus hops
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, citrus hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at Hexenhäusle.
Impression: Hexenbräu Pils is an unfiltered golden rustic example of the style. The nose is full of citrusy hops which carry on into the balanced hop forward palate. The lingering finish is semi-dry and semi-bitter. Though this one was very much in the Craft Beer vein, I found it still very Franconian in its rustic nature. Hexenhäusle is a wonderful old Witch’s house turned brewpub in the heart of the Steigerwald.
