Impression: Brauverein Schwabach Paddy is a rustic unfiltered dark amber to chestnut top-fermented Festbier. The balanced palate is richly malty. The lingering finish is semi-dry and semi-bitter. It’s quite soft due to the low carbonation. I’d read the name and thought or was hoping it would be an Irish Stout. I was later told the name referred to the often mispronounced Patty. Patte were the leather flaps of booklets that gold beaters used to store gold foil. While the names are misleading to the every day person, it was a good way to learn a bit about the city’s gold foil history!
