Kitzmann Bergkirchweihbier
Brewery: Kitzmann (brewed by Kulmbacher)
Town: Kulmbach
Style: Bergkirchweih Festbier
Color: in Krug so no visuals, looks amber
Head: white, creamy
Nose: toasted malt, hint of caramel
Body: full
Palate: toasted malty, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at Entla’s Keller during Bergkirchweih 2026 in Erlangen.
Impression: Kitzmann Bergkirchweih Festbier is richly malty as is typical of the style. Toasted malt intermingles with the underlying hops for an easy drinking festival treat. The lingering finish is just a tad sticky for me, but not unusual in this richly malty style. With my roasted duck, and as it warmed, the hops peeked out a little more assertively. Though the Kitzmann Bergkirchweihbier may not have been as enjoyable as the Entla’s Giesela Festbier, it was perhaps truer to style.
