Drummer Helles

light yellow beer in mug
Drummer Helles

Brewery: Drummer
Town:
Leutenbach
Style:
Helles
Color:
straw
Head:
dense
Nose:
grain, malt
Body: medium

Palate:
malty flavor, some grassy and grain notes mixed in, slight hop
Finish: clean, bittersweet

Served: on tap at the brewery

Impression: This was my second time at the brewery so had higher expectations this time around. Though the Dunkles lived up to memory, the Helles wasn’t quite as dry and bitter as memory served me. That said, it was a refreshing brew with some nice grassy notes and the finish was clean and slightly bitter. I think it’s served a bit on the carbonated side and I’d prefer a wider glass. The tall thin ones are tough to pour into without a resultant over carbonation. I’ll give it another go next time there but if you only have time for one, I’d say get their marvelous Dunkles.
