Cape Brewing Company Amber Weiss
Brewery: Cape Brewing Company
Town: Paarl
Style: Weissbier
Color: unfiltered, honeycomb amber
Head: white, effervescent
Nose: slight banana, clove
Body: light, medium carbonation
Palate: fruity, rounded
Finish: clean
Served: on tap at Dixie’s Bar in Glencairn
Impression: This was a bit of a craft beer wasteland and Dixie’s was an easy walk from our B&B. Our hosts recommended it for the food and it was great for that. They had a lot of stuff on tap but nothing much to get excited about. I had the CBC Pilsner the first night and it was decent enough. It was more of a Helles than a true Pils but went down well enough after a long day. I decided to try the Amber Weiss when we stopped for lunch the next day. I shy away from the style as I live in Munich and most pale in comparison. This one came out looking mighty fine and it was actually quite good. It was very balanced and easy to drink, with a nice clean finish.
How about another South African craft beer?
