Hennemann Sommergold
Brewery: Hennemann
Town: Sambach
Style: Keller Pils
Color: unfiltered light golden
Head: white, rocky
Nose: malty, hint of hops
Body: full-bodied
Palate: hoppy, bitter with just enough malt for balance
Finish: long, dry, bitter
Served: on tap at the brewery
Impression: Following Hennemann’s flagship Lagerbier, this one suffered a bit from an order effect. Generally, that might be from drinking a more hoppy beer first, which was not the case here with this being quite a bitter brew. It just lacked the complexity of its stablemate and perhaps a bit of its balance, though still not overly so. That said, it was a beauty to behold and an easy quaffer. It had the same great dryness in the finish and that’s no mean accomplishment.
