The tradition of the Schwarzer Adler dates back to 1242 and the current proprietors are already in their fourth generation. Along with an in-house butcher, they boast homemade bread and game meat in season. One of the members of Brauhaus Unfinden who I’ve known for a couple of years was raving about it and decided to show us the interior even though it wasn’t open. There is reportedly a nice inner courtyard area in fine weather. I’d certainly love to have a meal there the next time in town.

Since the local brewery was a government-funded project, they are not allowed to sell their beer so the Schwarzer Adler has beer from the nearby Brauerei Düll in Krautheim. I’ve been to that brewery and the beers are quite fine.
