Domterrassen Bamberg

Domterrassen Bamberg quite possibly has the best view of any restaurant in Bamberg.

Domterrassen Bamberg is an eclectic restaurant, mixing modern and rustic elements in its stylish interior. The true star, however, is the terrace. As the name forewarns, this is one special spot. It offers not only a bustling alfresco experience but also perhaps the best view of all Bamberg restaurants. You can almost touch the Cathedral.

 a great space & view

Domterrassen Bamberg Food

They offer a nicely chosen Mediterranean menu, with popular starters like humus and baba ghanoush. We share both and found them not only very tasty but also ample for two people. Since seafood isn’t exactly a Bamberg staple, we went for two dishes we don’t see in town: octopus and a squid salad. Both were perfectly prepared and stunning visually.  They weren’t huge but certainly filling enough.

an excellent & well-presented meal

The Beer

Domterrassen Bamberg has not only a nice wine selection but also some surprisingly good beers. In fact, their having Mönchsambacher Lager on tap was what prompted our visit. I must say, the beer was in great form and it’s hard to argue with having something so good with this kind of view!

a tough combo to beat

Our first visit to Domterrassen Bamberg was a resounding success. The weather looked a little uncertain on our arrival so they seated us inside but right on the edge of the closed terrace. I think they could see we were disappointed. When the weather got a little better, they moved us into a prime spot. Service was friendly and professionally efficient. I’m sure we’ll be back again.

Beers: Mönchsambacher Lager, Keesmann Sternla Lager & Keemann Herren Pils on tap. Mönchsambacher Weizen & Spezial Lager (Rauchbier) in bottles. Alcohol free: Kulmbacher Edelherb & Maisel’s Weisse.
