Dingslebener Landbier
Brewery: Metzler
Town: Dingsleben
Style: Landbier 4.9%
Color: deep mahogany, almost black
Head: off-white, rocky, sudsy
Nose: spicy hops
Body: medium
Palate: balanced, spicy hops, light grain, hint of roast
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: from a bottle bought in Sonneberg.
Impression: Dingslebener Landbier is an amber example of the style. The off-white head is sudsy and the nose is an intriguing mix of spicy hops and light grain. Both feature prominently in the balanced palate. The lingering finish is semi-dry and semi-bitter. I wasn’t expecting much from a Landbier. To be honest, I’d imagined a Trojan horse Helles. I’m very happy to find it amber and hoppy.
