Impression: Maischerei Mayr & Müller Schmarrbeudel is a hybrid of a Rotbier and Export. There’s a smidge of Cascade hops in the modern mix but it’s got an overall traditional feel. Brewed for Fasching with its festive red hue, it’s much drier than you’ll find in a Nürnberg Rotbier. For my money, it’s hops well spent, making for an infinitely drinkable Rotbier. The lingering finish is quite dry and only semi-bitter.

I liked the compliment to our Northwest hops, Rich.
They started growing hops that mimic American hops here. I guess it’s less expensive but he did say it was Cascade when I spoke with the brewer.
