The Weiss family has run a very popular Zoiglstube at this location for over 25 years and it’s little wonder with a homey interior and large pleasant outside seating area, full of flowers. Their menu is more extensive than most Zoiglstuben with large hot meals three of their four open days.

We had a nice light meal in the late afternoon/early evening. We opted for a plate of Kalterbraten (cold roast pork) and an order of Zoiglbatzn (this is the tasty cheese spread otherwise known as O’bazn everywhere outside of this area). We also got an order of white radish to freshen things up a bit. It all went very well with their very tasty Zoigl.

Since we noticed the large Sunday lunch menu, we returned the next day before catching our train home. My wife had a very nice Roulade (beef roll filled with pickles, onions and oddly carrots and a smokey bacon) and I enjoyed a very good Schäuferla. It was the first time I’d had it in the Oberpfalz and it was up there with the best of Franconia, if a bit smaller. Don’t get me wrong, it was plenty big but not as monstrous as some I’ve had. Both meals were great value as evidenced by the packed outside seating area. Of course, we also enjoyed a Zoigl or two for the road.
