Founded 1901, a bit auspiciously after the marriage of Josef Reh to Maria Hölzlein of the brewing family up the road. This is a stand alone brewery that has no brewery tap. The Landgasthof Lohntal up the hill on the train into town was the only place I knew of that served their beers on tap. Unfortunately, they have at least temporarily closed the restaurant and are currently looking for a person to take it over. Let’s hope they bring the Reh beers back, too!
the tasting area inside Brauerei Reh
I finally made it to the tasting area inside Brauerei Reh. Actually, we got there at what we thought was within the opening hours only to be told they were closed. The owner took pity on us and sold us their Rauchbier and even got us a glass so I could get a nice picture of it. It’s well worth stopping in if they are open. You basically buy a bottle and drink it there or carry it with you.
not a regular but their Rauchbier is worth seeking out if available
I returned yet again recently and they now have a cooler right in the hallway area so you can just grab a beer from the fair selection for a very fair €1.50 and then pay for it in the office.
Reh Landbier Hell on tap at Balkon & bottled Zwickl
I found their Landbier Hell on tap at Balkon in Nürnberg and with its proximity to the station, a great spot to have a quick beer. I also picked up a bottle of the lovely Zwickl.
