Impression: I was happy to find this when I stopped by the brewery on a winter hike in the area. The brewer gladly gave me a glass when I asked for one and seemed happy with the time I spent pouring it. It sure looked fantastic with a massive head. I’d had the very smoky Rauchbier at Knoblach in Schammelsdorf the night before so this seemed a fairly tame example of the style. That said, it’s a nice introductory smoked beer and an easy drinking one at that. I don’t see it listed on their website so it could have been a one-off. Let’s hope not.
Richie, for the record I’m really pleased that you got me on to Rauchbiers back in 2016. I’ve not looked back since 🙂
That was a great way to get exposed too. No better place than in Bamberg. As you can see I’ve been using my lockdown to get around to all the beers I’ve not had time to up till now. All the same, I’d rather be out looking for more! 😉
