Impression: Kulmbach’s Festbier is a richly malty amber example of the style. There’s some toasted malt and spicy notes in the nose and head retention is fair. The richly malty palate is typically spicy with a nice toasted malt element. The lingering finish is just about dry enough to avoid being cloying but I’d like a bit more hops in the mix. It was probably my favorite beer of the festival. This was my first time at Kulmbacher Bierwoche and felt it was a well-run festival.
