Hohe Wart Bräu Weizen Hell
Brewery: Hohe Wart Bräu
Town: Hohe Wart
Style: Weizen
Color: honeycomb
Head: white, creamy, yeasty
Nose: yeasty, fruity
Body: medium
Palate: fruity, malty, yeasty
Finish: lingering
Served: on tap at the Hohe Wart Haus.
Impression: Hohe Wart Haus Weizen is a refreshing fruity example of the style. It’s got a light honeycomb hue and great lacework. The yeasty/fruity nose makes it a classic Weizen. The lingering finish is a tad sticky for my tastes. That said, it certainly hit the spot after the hour climb to the Hohe Wart Haus.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
