Veste Trunk Zwickl on tap
Brewery: contract brewed for Brauhaus zu Coburg
Town: Coburg
Style: Zwickl 4.8%
Color: ruddy amber
Head: off-white, creamy
Nose: malty, bready, yeasty
Body: medium
Palate: malty, fruity, bready, underlying hops
Finish: lingering, semi-dry, semi-bitter
Served: on tap at Brauhaus zu Coburg.
Impression: Brauhaus zu Coburg is a ruddy amber rustic example of the style. There’s some dark bread and yeast in the nose. The balanced malty palate has an earthy bready quality. Though the hopping seem relatively low, the lingering finish remains relatively dry with just a touch of bitterness.

I'm an American living in Munich and Bamberg. Why? Well, I came for the beer but stayed for the girl. I'm very happily married to a German woman. Of course, the bonus of great beer certainly doesn't hurt. An avid love of hiking and finding new beers has led me to found Beerwanderers, an information resource on beer hiking trails in Franconia with an emphasis on Franconian food specialties and the endless variety of amazing beer the region is renowned for. I also published my first book Beer Hiking Bavaria which features 50 beer hikes in Bavaria and lead beer hiking experiences for those who love beer & nature. View all posts by beerwanderers
